puppet

Materials you will need to make a basic stop-motion puppet armature:

1) armature wire 1/16" or slightly thicker
2) leakstopper (not the clear kind but the kind that ends up grey in color, and rock hard)
3) two nuts, two screws (flat at the foot end), and two wingnuts for the tie-down for lift-leg walks
4) brass tubing to create stiff "bones" and allow for joints (elbows, knees)
5) beads for the eyes
6) aluminum foil or foam wrap to bulk up the puppet
7) wire cutters
8) brass tube cutter that won't squash the tube
9) plastilina or colored sculpey (non or slow-drying clay), for skin tones/fleshy parts
10) cloth or other clothing material, sewing kit
11) a peg board for the ground, for lift-leg walking
12) foamcore/board, paint, other materials to build your set, depending on what you're planning
13) clamps to hold the pegboard to your tabletop (these can be borrowed from the Equipment Room/Media Resources)
14) mini-mole lights (also from the E.R.)

*note: make your puppets 8" or shorter, depending on how big they are in the world you create for them and how you want  them to move.
